Mastery Course Builder

Seed SoftwareVenture

Most course platforms are content-delivery tools, not learning systems — they accept that some students sink and some swim on their own agency. The mastery-based alternative, where a student has to demonstrate real skill before advancing and practice adapts to what they’ve actually retained, exists in only a handful of deeply-built products. There’s no infrastructure that lets a technically capable creator build that kind of course without writing an entire learning platform from scratch.

The plan is to build one real course in a technical domain first — solving the two hardest underlying problems (authoring a domain’s skill hierarchy as a knowledge graph, and generating effectively infinite practice variations from a finite set of skill definitions) before trying to generalize the platform for other creators. Once that works, creators would embed or self-host the student experience on their own site, with the platform handling spaced-repetition scheduling and adaptive practice underneath.

Aimed at technical domain experts — the tier of creator already building rigorous educational content but without the resources to build a full mastery-learning system themselves.
